If it was mine, I would first think about how long would I want to keep it. If I wanted it to last another 100,000 miles or more, I would not only fix the headgasket issue, but also refresh the entire cooling system and rebuild the transmission if those things were not already done.

Yea, I'm sure it does too. Way to early for the head gaskets to go. I'd guess neglect, abuse or some sort of uneducated maintenance harassment IMO. Take your pic.

Honestly, I'd just find a good used engine. Learn how to do a quick compression check, take the engine home if you want if it's your first go around w/compression checking (learn hands on). All the yards have at least a 30 day money back, in that time you should be able to master compression testing revealing the true health of the engine. Buy it or move onto the next. This is best route take, much better than a Jasper or any reman engine. An original used Ford engine with some miles behind it and good compression is a proven engine that will last. And it's easier on the wallet.
