Default Would you buy this? 1997 F150 question

I hope I have the right forum to post this question. And thanks for helping me out. My cousin has a 1997 F150 XLT SC 4x4 that he bought new. He wants to sell it and offered it to me for $4000. It has a little under 150k miles but the body and interior are in good condition. A lot of the miles were highway miles and everything on it works. It has the 4.6 V8. The only thing it needs is there is a slight leak in the drivers side manifold and the gauges don't work sometimes. Speedometer and tach work fine always. Would this be a good truck for someone that just wants a third vehicle to haul things in and drive to ballgames sometimes?

Thanks. I think I'll take a shot with it and see how it goes. I appreciate it guys. For $4000 I don't think I can go wrong even if it would need a couple things.

yep, you could part it out and make that money back easy, but that would be A LOT of work.

I went ahead and bought this truck. I'm happy with it. Has anyone had their gauges act up though? When I first start it up they seem to read fine and then go haywire.

When i bought my 98 F150 XLT 4.6L V8, i only paid 4000 for it and it had 160,000. Its been a good truck for the past 2 years ive owned it. I am having a bit of trouble with it now, but nothing major i hope. Good truck. And congrats on your purchase.

Default Such a deal??

I just bought a 2002 F150 XLT with a Triton 5.4 liter with 193K miles on it for $3K. Its loaded and everything works great! I bought this from a stranger so would think a family member should give you an even better deal than me. Good luck!
