Default Wire harness

I am attempting to repair the trailer harness wiring in my truck, but have run into a little snag. There is a harness connector just to the left (drivers side) of the spare tire that has the wiring for all of the rear lighting (tail, brake/stop, license, reverse) plus carries the power for trailer battery charging and brakes. The power and brakes are not present on the lighting side of the connector. The previous owner cut the brake wire less than 1/4" from the connector and spliced it in.

My question is, does that harness connect into the system further up the truck, or is it a part of the main wire harness? I have a wire kit the plugs in right there for a new trailer connector, but I don't want to have to splice it in. Also, does someone have a pinout for that connector, as the replacement doesn't break out the backup lights.

Thanks

Eric

Can you share a couple pictures of the connector? I need to be able to see pins and locator tab locations. I might be able to help.

I'll get a picture here in a bit.

Thanks,

Here they are:

Let's see if they attached.

I guess my hands weren't steady on the first one.

And this is the ford part number of the lighting harness that plugs in there.

I believe from there forward is part of the main harness, all of it is long discontinued.

I would need a picture of the actual connector face in order to try to track down a repair pigtail but it would be a splice in repair.

Shot like this, this photo is just for an example of what I need to see.

I was trying for a pinout but the Ford site is acting up.

With the correct tool, could you remove the one pin and replace it with one that has enough wire to splice, or with the pin removed, replace the short wire with one a little longer?

This is the harness that I have put in:

http://www.napaonline.com/napa/en/p/...824/BK_7551824

I then added a 7 pin to the end of it (I am not sure why someone does not just offer this with a seven pin). For the brake wire, I am going to just splice it in as is, I really don't want to spend the time or money to replace the existing main harness. I also figured out the backup wire, so I also spliced that into the replacement. Thanks for the help.

Eric
