Default Will 4R70W from 2005 F150 fit my 2000 F150?

Like title states, I need a new trans in my truck and found one from a 2005 5.4 4x4 F150, and my truck is a 2000 5.4 4x4... Would this be a direct fit or what? Thanks for any input.

04-08s had the 4r75 and your 2000 probably has the 4r70. As far as I know they are direct swaps. It would require a good deal of work as well as programing.

It says its a 4r70W, but I know there are different ones. This is the one I was looking at:

Hmmm I'm not sure I didn't think they put the 4r70 in f150s after 03 but I could be wrong

04/05 Had the 4R70W. But it ran on the can bus system. So the programming for the trans is completely different along with the majority of the connectors on the trans. Depending on the year of your truck will dictate what year trans will work.

I am def not the trans expert. But i think anything past a 2004 is a 4r75 as mentioned above. It's just a glorified 4r70 with better internal components. It should bolt up.

But if i remember correctly a there were wiring and computer limitations. I think you need some kind of signal converter to use with your computer. I also remember there being differences with the output shaft speed sensor. You will also need a tune to adjust for that.

I think it's been done before, but i remember alot of limitations in terms of wiring. Good luck tho
