Default Was gonna order a new air filter?

I heard awhile back that a k&n isn't as good as some dry filter made by air aid?

Just depends who you ask. Every truck at my house currently is running a K&N and we've never had an issue. Just make sure when you clean it to let the oil dry because that's where people mess up and end up with dirty MAF sensors.

I recommend Amsoil. Cheaper than K&N and it's a dry flow intake. It filters much better as well and is good for a 100,000 miles.

A lot of people use the 'more is better' mentality when oiling their k&n filters, this is probably the biggest downfall of a self-serviceable air filter like a k&n, so much room for user error.
Another common problem is not letting the fabric dry completely before oiling it. Oil and water don't mix, if you oil a wet/damp filter the oil will not soak into the fabric it will kind of float on the surface, again causing problems.
I've also seen/heard of some people oiling the inside of their k&n, kind of the same as 'more is better' mentality. Big no-no obviously

Exactly. Just dust it with oil till it turns pink and let it sit in the sun. If there's beads of oil on it that's what will cause issues.

I serviced mine around 155k and have been doing fine with it. It told me to oil the inside and out, so i did. I did let it dry and wiped up the residue, so I'm sure i did it properly. Luckily, they say you dont have to service it for another 50k, so im fine for now.
