Another thing to remember is if you go to small you might have to change your wheel studs. I think minimum is 1.5" to keep your same studs but not positive exactly. I went 2" both times so of course had no issue.

You have to use hubcentric. If you use lugcentric I give you 10 miles before they fail lol.

I've got 2" hub centric spacers on my truck.
I've used spacers on my Ranger, Mustangs and 2 F150s. No problems. Use a quality spacer though. Not a cheap Chinese knock off.

Just remember, for every thumbs up you'll hear, you will get an equal number of thumbs down, like Red-Fords.
The decision is up to you, and you could have no problems. Or you could have what happened to Red's truck.
