Default whats the trick to removing upper ball joint?

My buddy and I are trying to install my springs tonight and we can't get the upper contol arm to separate from the spindle. We have a pickle fork and just went to oreilly to get a ball joint separator and they tried to give us another pickle fork. So we took a pitman tie rod puller to see if we can get that to work.

What's the secret to getting this thing off?

Thanks in advance.

I agree with rwilhite07... I use something that will put release pressure on the arm, like a long bar lifting up on the arm... Loosen the castle nut, but don't remove it... Spray the ball joint where it connects to the spindle with some P'Blaster... Get out your BFH and hit the spindle near the ball joint as hard as you can until it pops... The castle nut will keep things from flying when it breaks free, but it will be a violent pop...

Good luck!!

Cheers!!

You're not separating the ball joint from the ball pocket in the arm, you are separating the ball joint threads from the hole in the top of the spindle, that is why you leave the castle nut on the threads until it pops... Make sure the nut turns freely before you pop the ball joint loose...
