Default What's recommended?

Ok so I just sold my diesel and found a really nice 2003 fx4 with the 5.4L motor with only 87K. The guy said the spark plugs have never been changed, so I was wondering what the recommended time to change them out is and what brand is everyone using? Any feedback would be great.

It should be ready for a plug change anywhere from 87k to 100k. Most people on here will tell you motorcraft plugs just because these trucks are picky about spark plugs. A lot of other people run other brands. Your main concern should be getting them torqued down so they down spit out (common problem).

Personally I run motorcraft just to be on the safe side... Now buy that beast and post some pics!

Thanks for the reply. What about Autolite doulde platinum, not good or good for the 5.4L? And do you know what the torque specs are?

Not sure about the type of plugs. Had my mechanic take care of it. But it is a good idea to do plugs and wires now. And make sure you torque to specs. Reduces the risk of blowing a pug out.

Also ask if the trans fluid has been changed. Think it sould be every 30k. Mine was original at 80k, so I had it flushed when I got it.

Check if he did the coolant, too. Old coolant gets corrosive.

Go to the how to section there's a whole write up on changing the plugs on these trucks with torque specs and all. Sounds like a great truck with nice low mileage, jump on it and enjoy.

Thanks for the help. I'm not sure that I'm going to buy it because this guy is stuck on $14,500 and I just think that is to much money for this truck. Here's a link, tell me what you think about it.

So what would you pay for this truck????????????

He is asking what the truck is worth. Going to be hard to get it for cheap. Its a lariat FX4 Screw. In my arear they are still retailling for $15-$16k with that kind of mileage.

That's it, I don't know what these trucks are going for in my area. I've been in the diesel world for so long, I'm clueless on the price of these trucks. I guess I have some thinking to do.

So does everyone think that's a fair asking price?

If I was dealing with cash and not a bank I would offer $12500 CASH. Cash is hard to tturn down.
