Greasing is very important...obviously.
Let me put it this way. If you grease your truck it will last much longer and you will spend less money on parts.
Get a grease gun and grease every nipple you can find. ....Steering, suspension, driveliine....
Basically, you grease a port until grease comes out somewhere...

Not when you're greasing.
There are many joints now that are not serviceable and therefore cannot be greased. But crawl under and look around.
When greasing most things like ball joints, u-joints, etc...once the joint is full of grease, it will start to seep out. You'll be able to tell, don't worry.

like said above if there is a grease zerk i would def use it!! over time the grease thats in there will breakl down and moisture and crud getis in the area! so when you grease you will see the old grease squishing out the ends of the bearing housing if you will along with any trapped moisture just grease until you see the new grease just starting to squish out the housing or whatever you are greasing and you are all set!! also just check up on the specs because what you are gresing may require a certain kind of grease!!

Good point...
You can buy many general purpose greases, but definitely make sure you're buying the right grease....and buy a good quality lube, not the wal-mart brand.

While you have grease out, make sure you lube your parking brake cable at both ends. Try and work the grease in.
Check driveshaft ujoints, but they may be sealed
