One of my trucks drank oil, so I used Royal Purple and it stopped. Dont know why. I always have good luck with Vavoline. It too is a really good oil.

anything else that would be suggested? I don't have nearly that many miles but the oil change time has come yet again. How much longer does RP last than regualr synthetics??

Motocraft was specifically designed for our trucks. Use the semi synthetic you will more than likely never have problem. RP should last up to 5k. Get online and check the specs, there is no Difference in the RP than the Motorcraft or many other full synthetic oils. Well, no difference except the instead of paying 4 bucks a quart you're gonna pay 7...Im not knocking royal purple, im just saying you are paying a lot of money for the name...A.K.A. K&N etc..etc...etc.
If you changed your oil every 1500 miles with the motorcraft or some other related oil, it would still be cheaper than changing your oil every 3 or 4k with RP....Just a thought.

They pay me to drink
Most common over the counter "synthetic" oils are not synthetics. Thanks to a lawsuit by Castrol, anything that meets an SAE test for purity can be called synthetic even if it uses normal oil as the base stock. Mobil1, royal purple, amsoil, redline, and other premiums are the only true synthetics.
Once you get to the price range of Mobil1 and the others, they are all such overkill that its hard to say which one is best.
I also agree with dplummer. I'm a maintenance freak, and synthetics just don't add up for me. But I disagree with the fact that oils are the same. There is a big difference between meeting manufacturer requirements and exceeding them. Just because they both meet the criteria doesn't mean they are the same. RP, Amsoil, and Mobil1 are far superior oils; both in the base stock composition, and the additive package. Comparing them to Motorcraft oil (which right now are supplied by Citgo and Penzoil) is like comparing an F150 to a Mercedes.
