I have been doing my oil as follows for years for several different vehicles:

10W30 for the winter
10W40 for the summer
Reason is because I live in Michigan where the winters get cold and summers not so cold.. Thinner in the winter, thicker in the summer..

As I was fixing a blown head gasket and had things apart, I noticed it recommends 5W30..

Looks like no-one else changes their weight of oil for the seasons..

I think I will try 5W30 when I do my next oil change and see how she responds.. It is thinner, so I know my small leaks will be a little worse but I guess I will see how it works out. Oil pressure stays the same no matter what oil I have used (even when the head gasket blew).
