Default Well I custom built a cold air kit for my 02

I refuse to pay 4-5 hundred for a CAI. So I was looking today and really just started taking crap apart. I had some old CAI tubing left from a 90 5.0 So, I got busy. 4 hrs later, bam I feel like I have upped my HP at least 15 to 20. You can feel the pull now. And it sounds like it has a super charger. Here is a pic dont laugh Im not done.

Exaclty what I plan to do lol

but ditch the tape and go to lowes or homes depot and get you some rubber dresser coupling type reducers with hose clamps on both ends to fix the taped spots lol

i also plan to get like a 6'' to 3 inch bell pvc reducer to go in the fender well and over the filter

yeah I plan on piping it on over but its hard to believe how restrictive stock units are on those trucks

Love the duct tape. Really makes it look like redneck engineering. Well at least you have a cai now.

hey, how big was the hole in the fender? cuz lookin at it...on mine atleast it already has a cai cuz its suckin air in from the fender well. but its restrictive cuz the hole aint big enough. (as the ideas flow..) why not make a bigger hole and connect it somehow so instead of sucking from the engine compt. your taking it from the wheel well. i went muddin and it got all over the fender and the engine compt...so you would have to wash the filter a lot..

and thats what she said.

but im going to look at it more tomorrow when I put in my off-road lights behind my grill.

Nice job by the way, looks nice, and will be nicer once you finish and get rid of all that tape.

here is what you do take the whole air box off. remove that restrictor either leave one end of it open, or just put it back as normal. You will see some major power.

i think i read the hole was 3 1/2 or 3 and 1/4 or so.. I had already planned to build my own and plan to take like a 6'' or 8'' bell reducer down to 3 inches out the fender well.. i plan on the cold air intake to the filter and the 6'' or 8'' bell will set around the filter and draw air freely from the fender area..hopefully lol

so think like a cold air intake to a potato gun lol
