Good day,
Turn the ignition to run, but don't start it... Have a reliable helper to listen by the pass side firewall when you put it to 4x4 high... They should hear a click... If you know there is power at the solenoids, then they should click... If they don't, the solenoids are bad... If they do, and you still don't get 4x4 (when the truck is running), you have a vac leak (before OR/AND after) the solenoids...
Good luck!!
Cheers!!

If you confirm power to the solenoids, but no click, the solenoids are bad (OR they are very very quiet)... I will try to take pics and point out some stuff... My motor is out of my truck, so getting to show voltages would be a bit difficult at this point, but functionality might work... I have the Ford shop manual on CD for my 97, and the twin book version for my 2000... I'll do some research and help figure this out... Gotta have 4x4 this time of the year!!
Cheers!!
