turn the key.. motor does nothing... at all
hey ya'll need some help... i recently developed this issue with my 99 f150 xlt randomly not starting when it does start there isnt any stutter or cough so i dont think its the fuel pump... im thinking starter.. what about ya'll .. but then 2 seconds later it will start or not depending on its decision. when it doesnt start theres is no sputter cough or trying to turn over just simply nothing happening. although i still have my headlights and all dash lights and full battery charge...only 120, XXX on it, i just did the plugs and boots 6 months ago so i know its not those... hopefully.... any and all help is much appreciated

When you turn the key to ON can you hear the fuel pump priming, starter solenoid engaging and does the starter motor itself turn over? If not, I'd say it's electrical and would start by checking the relays.

Yep... that's what I was getting at with my previous post . Mine did it once and I changed my battery twice before my neighbor showed me what it was. Now when it does it I just push the gear shifter upwards more into the park position and it starts every time.

Try rolling the truck back and forth a bit when it doesn't start. That work ?
The cable and wires at the starter connect can corrode, cause problems like that. The large positive cable down by the starter, (the loop) can develop pin holes over time and corrode under the insulation.
In a situation like this, you really need to go thru the starting system well...vrs throwing parts at it.
