Truck dies while driving, crank shaft sensor/
First of all, thanks for all the great info on this sight!
Now, for the painful part. I bought a 2001 f150 super crew in late 2000. I sold this truck to my dad in late 2003 (wife had baby), and purchased a preowned F150. The 01 Super Crew (4.6,4x2,92,650 miles currently) ran flawlessly until last fall. The truck started cutting off while driving, not slowing to a stop or idle, at random speeds. Check engine light came on, he took to the dealer. Dealer said code was mis-fire and rec. changing plugs and coil packs. Same probelm two weeks later, this time I took the truck and had a friend scan, IAC motor bad=replaced. A few weeks later same problem, new code = crank shaft senor and TPS. I replaced both.
Ran fine for a few weeks , same problem same code = crankshaft sensor.
I do not see the need to replace the sensor again, what should I look for next? Wiring, ECM??? The crankshaft code Is the only code present.
Thanks in advance for all the help

Might consider checking a wireing diagram for color codes and pin location and do a continuity check of wireing to CPS. We have to use and trust the self test system, its alot smarter than we are. Throwing parts at it is not the final repair, agreed sensors fail more ofter then there are wireing issues, well thats your next step. Question, was this a Ford sensor or auto parts? Last thought, there were other posts here about grime and gunk down on the sensor and ring, might check that also.

All sensors installed were aftermarket parts, not from Ford.
I'll move on to checking wiring and for gunk/grime on the sensor and ring. Do you rec that I replace the crankshaft sensor again with an OE part?
