Question Transmission issues PLEASE HELP!!!!

I have a 99 F-150 V-6 auto Trans. that I am having issues when I go to take off from being stopped My Trans wont kick in until motor gets to 1500 RPM and when it does go into gear it jerks really hard. and then their is times that it wont jerk but is always very sluggish when taking off...

Fluid levels are good, changed auto trans oil and filter was changed about 6 to 8 months ago.

Note: Trans use to shift hard no matter what gear and or how I would drive the truck... any idea's? Trying to keep from spending 2 grand and more for a new trans.

Unplugging the unit was a no go. truck wouldn't even start. and even tried to unplug it after truck was started and the truck shut down after I did. a friend of mine thinks it is the pressure plate? Due to the fact it started to act up going in to 2nd gear last night.
