I was very lucky with mine... like about 90% of Ford owners, I assumed since my cruise was working, my switch wasn't one of the affected ones... wrong... I do photography on the side and was doing a shoot with the truck parked behind me and I could smell a faint electrical smell. It came and went for a few minutes so I was looking around for something around me maybe shorting out, I never thought it was the truck. I turned around and saw white smoke pouring out from under the hood. I popped the hood and the cruise control module was melting and smoking, unplugged the cable and it stopped instantly.
Hate to imagine if that started while the truck was parked in my garage at 2am while I was asleep.
