Truck bed replacement
I have a 1997 extended cab short bed f-150 with damage. I've found a 2000 short bed but I'm not sure about fit. Can someone advise if or not this should swap out?

What do extended cab and short bed have to do with each other? You didn't specify what bed the 97 has, or specify what cab the 00 has. Need some more info.

The emphasis on extended cab/ short bed is because of the cab differences. The extended cab also has a short bed. I'm asking if ford used the same beds on these 2 models. I don't have any information on the 00 cab as the bed is in salvage. Sorry if I wasn't clear.

I think thats a deal where you can get a good idea weather it fits or not by comparing them. There is always the possibility the are not direct replacements but can be made to work as long as things like the curvature at the back of the cab is the same and mounting locations are the same. The plugs for wiring could be different and stuff like that. A little work changing things like that..

Is it a 4 door? If so, the bed is totally different. If its a standard cab, it should swap just fine. If the taillights are the same, and its the same length, its a safe assumption it should bolt right on.

2000 no supercrew beds existed, so yes. You'll be fine. if youre swapping between flareside and styleside, you'll need a new bumper and tailgate. Other than that, you're good. I have a 97/98 bed on mine after the bed got hit hard. Bolted on just fine.
