Default check engine light after oil change

we have an '03 F-150 2wd 5.4L and had been doing really good with it for awhile. but yesterday we did an oil change with the usual royal purple oil that we had been putting in it. today on my way to work the truck was fine and on the way home it was fine it did jump up and down once on me at about 37-40 miles an hour didnt think anything about it. i did not run the truck hard did slow acceleration up to speed limit and that it nothing hard on it at all. but when it jumped well more like bounced up and down it felt like the rear or the suspension. didnt think anything of it. well dad goes to take the truck up tonight after sitting for a few hours and the check engine light is on and its idling rough and running funny hes says

check to make sure your gas cap is on tight - if it is loose there are emission sensors that will go off. Also check your oil filter, air filter, oil drain plug, or anything else you might have adjusted recently. These are simply things that can trigger the check engine light. Hopefully one of them is it

If its running rough its prolly not the gas cap. You need to pull the codes and see what the computer dosent like.
