Default Transmission slipping????

Hey guys,

I have a 98 4x4 with 288,000 miles. The motor was replaced and auto 4r70w tranny rebuilt by the previous owner. I recently had a bad tranny oil leak from the cooler lines which caused my fluid level to be low. I just changed them and refilled fluid but my transmission still feels really weak and seems to slip. From a stop, it will not really coast when i take my foot off the brake. It will not hold a hill in 3rd or 4th gear and sometimes on the downshift it will slip and feels like it is searching for a gear. When climbing a steep hill it will slip to around 2200 rpm then jam into gear and kick forward. And from OD on the highway it will downshift fine but it wont gain any speed. It just feels like its not hooking up completely. I plan on changing the trans filter to see if that may be the culprit. Is my tranny going bad altogether or does this sound like something else? Anyone have similar things? Thanks for any help!
