Default Trans pouring out fluid

Well spent 3 days pulling trans and transfer out of my 97 150, changed the front seal and put it all back together. Drove it about a mile and was really disappointed to see fluid still running out of the bell housing. I heard a rumor that there were certain years that had torq converter cracking issues, was wondering if anybody has heard this or knows of anyone who has had this problem, thanks guys

i actually had a very severe front pump leak on mine as well. i figured since this tranny is a royal pain in the *** to take out i am only doin it once and i put in a brand spankin new 98+ tranny in my 97. it saved me from the problem you are havin... besides it had 200,000 miles on it.. i might reccomend rebuild or replace though... its a thought. on the other hand i belive there is a bushing in the front pump on the trans that the converter that slides into. once that bushing wears out (can be replaced?), it causes play which in turn causes cracked converters. another thing is if there is any sort of groove that is somewhat noticeable with a finger nail id replace the converter as that can cause problems as well.
