Looks important! Yea, luckily no shrapnel in the pan..just metallic peach fuzz so far.

How does your fluid look now? Does it smell burnt. If you do drop the pan and find one of these, not good.

That just means it's original fluid. My black truck had the plug in the pan when I started losing second at 200k. I dropped the pan and drained the torque converter and refilled. Then I drove it another 20k without a hiccup.

Not always. It just means that the pan has not been dropped and filter not changed. The fluid could have been changed via the lines.

Or could have been owned by a jerk like me that puts it back in when I change it

Don't think it is necessary bad. Any filter needs to be changed eventually. Wouldn't hurt to at least drop the pan to change the filter.
