I have a 1998 F150 2wd 5.4v8 with a 4r70w tranny. my problem is my transmission it shifts into 1-2nd fine when it tries to shift into 3rd the engine will rev high then shift hard into third or skip third and go into fourth and I will have slow acceleration. the other problem is when I accelerate hard it seems like the transmission disconnects completly the engine just revs with no response from the tranny until I let off the gas and It will pop back into a gear too high and again I will have slow acceleration

also the OD light starts flashing when I accel hard and it pops into gear

any help would be appreciated thanx

Take it to a tranny shop for a complete diagnostic. The flashing OD light is a trouble indicator. I would suspect that the forward band is going south.

Sounds like the clutch plates are wore out. Sounds like time for a rebuild.
