Default Towing with a 97 F150 4.6Ltre

So I am not sure what the towing capabilities are for the 4.6 especially an older one like mine? me and my wife are looking at used RV's and I just found a 37' dual axle RV... probably too much? It has a factory 2" receiver.

Thanks
Shawn

Sorry for my lack of knowledge of this but this definitely something I am ignorant with!

I have the same truck as you and I think that its too much for the motor and suspension to handle comfortably.

Have this: http://www.fordf150.net/specs/02f150.php
You would be better off with a fifth wheel, or a gooseneck if you want to pull that big of a trailer too.

Hell no,I wouldn't tow a 37' anything with my truck and it's a 5.4 with the tow package. I don't remember the max for my truck, but I'm sure that is beyond it.

Truck is stock 4x4 reg cab Lariat edition. Only owned it for a few weeks now. I don't know the weight of the camper I emailed the owner of the camper. I am actually looking for a smaller camper this one is just a great buy. I am looking for a 20' or so but at the right price.

Haha I would pull it... I just dont have a need to.

As for the OP, I wouldnt ruin a good tranny, motor, and truck towing that. A few K in upgrades maybe, but thats still pushing it.

I would say that thing weighs in excess of 7k not counting the wind blowing it everywhich way
