Default Really random question

I've always been curious about what this lump in the floor of the cab is for. Is it just for the latch on the rear seat? Or is there something underneath it? Makes a nice custom subwoofer install kinda painful.

I really doubt there is anything under there

Guess I'll find out when I have my cage installed. I'll have them cut the top off and look. And if there's nothing there just remove it and weld a flat piece in and paint it. Lol

Looks like they needed a wider mounting point for the seat mount..

You can see from the top that the seat actually rests on the top of that, where the paint is worn on the edges. I would not advise removing or altering it in any way shape or form.

The paint is worn from the sub box that I built resting on top of it. In fact, when the plastic trim that goes along the back wall of the cab is installed, all you see is the front face of the lump. Those white studs with the nuts and washers on them are the mounting points for the back trim so that can kinda give you an idea on how that works. The rest is tucked away under the trim. When the seat is installed, there is a hook at the bottom of the back rest that hooks into that u hook. I am having custom seats installed and that u hook will not be utilized. I was curious if it served another purpose other than acting as an extra mounting/securing point for the factory seat.
