Question 2003 Tires, wheels, leveling question from a newbie

I have been watching these forums for a while and I am really confused. I have a 2003 screw 4wd F150. It is BONE stock. I am running 255/70R16 tires and the factory chrome wheels. This is a truck I use with my family (wife & 2 year old), so I cant put it way up in the air like I would like to. Basically, I want to be able to run wider wheels, that stick out slightly, to give it that wider stance and more aggressive look. As many of you already know, gas mileage is bad enough without putting a taller tire on it. I really only want to go wider, no taller. What I would like to know is...

1) Would a leveling kit allow me to run a 16x10 or 16x12 wheel without rubbing?
2) Which size wheel would give me this look? I know it depends on having a negative offset, but Ive been looking at Pro Comp, Ion Alloy, Ultra wheels that look like the Mickey Thompson classic ii's.
3) Is a leveling kit going to make the truck ride alot rougher?

Thanks in advance for you help!!

as for the wheels im not a 100% but i think you should be able to if you don't go any higher, i wouldn't see why not with 31's, and you know you could go with 33's that arnt that much bigger and proble wont make that big a diff. as for the wheel idk that is what look im going for too and tryin to find out my self. and the ride will be a little more rough but as long as you dont live on any shi** roads it schould not be to bad.

Well this is my 01 with 32s on em. The rims are still stock and I havent done anything with the height. I dont get any rubbing at all and I didnt have to trim out anything too which was nice.
