I get my FX4 wheels today and 285/70/17's tomorrow! Can't wait.
I was looking at some custom ideas last night on youtube. I came across several people using plast-dip to accent their cars/trucks. So, I decided to do a hack photoshop version to see what my idea on the FX4 wheel would look like.
I'm not sure I'm ballsy enough to do it.
What do you guys think?
Well the good news is plasti-dip is removable just make sure you use enough coats. If you don't like it pull it off!!
I have 285/70r17 Nitto Trail Grapplers on my 01 Screw Lariat. Before I got them put on, my dad and I cranked the torsion bars.. I know a lot of people say the 285 won't rub, but I have rubbing when I turn all the way to the left. They had to trim part of the plastic bumper, so I'm not sure if they just didn't trim one side enough.
As for Plasti-dipping rims, I've been talking with my good friend about Plasti-dip (I was wanting to do my stepping bars and he always had good information about products) and he informed me that it traps moisture and dirt which causes for rusting. We all know it removes easily, that's a plus if you're just getting an idea of what it would like.. but if you go down the road and a rock flicked up, there's a good chance it would rip Plasti-dip right off.

Yeah I was just looking to horse around with it in my spare time. My drummer is a manager at a local Ford dealership. He threatened me if I do that to those wheels!
According to a buddy of mine that helped me put the new bed on it, the truck has a 2" lift/ level on it. So will the 285's still rub? If so I'll just drop back to a 275.
Well, i got lucky and was able to track down a set of FX4 rims about an hour away from where I live. For $300 I don't mind the drive and they look practically brand new! So I think I'll go with 285's, but at what ratio - 60, 65, 70?
My tires where 285/75R16, and they where still tucked in the fender a bit. I didn't have fx4 wheels though, I don't know if there is a difference between those and the other stock ones in offset.

I didn't rub at all when I had 285's, not T-bar crank or anything. My truck is a '97 scab 4x4. I did have to crank the T-bars when I went up to 35's though lol.
