Hi everyone. need a little help here. i left work tonight and i hear a ticking sound under my hood. i don't know if its something to do with my exhaust or my engine. i just got a tune up back in January, had new iridium spark plugs put in, and put all new ignition coils. The local Ford dealership did this.

For about a year, my muffler or something with the exhaust would rattle when i was at a stop sign or at a stop at a drive through. it don't make the ticking sound when i am at a stop or moving while its idling. when i give it gas, it starts ticking. Please help!!! I have a 1998 F-150. 5.4 Triton. Thank you very much!!

feel your injectors when running(the truck not you) and see if the ticking goes with the feel of the injectors ishness? i like saying ish , its my kinda/maybe. my truck makes nioses and my injectors feel chattery alot.. ish

I had a ticking problem in my 99 it is the 6cyl 4.2 version but nonetheless a ticking... I did as you did also replaced my own plugs and about 6 months later i noticed a tick. The #3 plug was loose and arcing i tightened it up and its been fine since

i have the boush dual prongs and have ticking but on mine it seems the injectors are making the noise. eventualy i might try diff plugs, than new injectors then header wrap. then maybe new header gaskets. i hate ticking nioses.
