For those who Plow snow
I have the opportunity to pick a full plow setup (working) for $500. its coming off a 96' f150. My Question is will the frame bracket fit on my 01'? I heard that it would fit but I can't find any info on it. I guess a second question would be will the front end handle the weight just fine? Would it be better if the torsion bars were cranked up or will that hurt it more?

I am going to say dont put a plow on your 1/2 ton truck. Especially not a 97 and up they have an independent front suspension that doesnt hold up nearly as well as the older I beam style suspension like the 96 that the plow came off of.

We have a 03 or 04 F150 that we plow with, have plowed with it for the past 3 years with no problems and it has a full Boss 8' on it. What brand is the plow set up?

Actually I don't know what it is yet. I'm am getting pictures of it before I commit to anything. A friend of a friend told me about it and its about a three hour drive to go get it so I want to be real sure about it first! But at the cost of what a plow setup is this is a bargain. and I hope to make some $$ with it next year. The guy Blew the motor on his truck so thats why he's selling it.
Oh, plus i read in some brochure that ALL ford f series 4x4's have a front suspension rated to hold a plow.

Yea if it is in good shape and everything works $500 is a steal! I know with the boss plows the mounts are all the same, so all you would have to do is get the frame and bolts to the truck you have and the plow will work off of that.

It has that. I was wondering if a frame mount for a 96 would work with the 01. I heard that it would but I need to be positive 1st. I don't want to buy it and then have to spend another $500 for a frame mount to fit mine. the deal isn't so great then......

bought my truck ('99 f150) with a 8' curtis plow but he had the front end all beefed up. i sold the plow and when i hit bumps now, **** flys off the dash lol.
i'd hook up the plow, lift it, and it wouldnt even move the front end.

I would never put a plow on my truck to do any driveways but my own and maybe a neighbors. The slamming it in forward and reverse, the weight, etc... is hard on the truck.

It is hard on the trucks. The guy I got mine from only used it for his driveway as he has like a half mile long driveway, other than that, he never used it. but thats why I sold mine
traded my '85 mustang (beefed up of course) straight up for the truck i have now. was looking to get about $5k for the 'stang and i sold the plow for $1500 cash.
i think i came out ahead lol.

But you could by the setup for $500 and then easily sell that set up again for close to $1000
