Break Lights
I just bought (1999 F150 4x4 short bed 4.2 auto) this truck about two weeks ago and noticed that the break lights don't work. I have signal lights and hazard lights. I checked the bulbs, they are ok. I checked the wiring. I am not getting any signal to the rear. I just noticed that I don't have a break safety switch, which explains why I don't have to push the break pedal down to shift out of park. I would have thought that it wouldn't shift at all if the break safety switch wasn't there. The safety switch is not my concern. The break lights are my concern. Anything that you can think of that I havn't would be a great help. Thanks.

I think not having the brake safety switch may be your problem. Your talking about the switch that the brake pedal/linkage contacts when pressing on the pedal right? Are the wires there for it?

Turns out that is all it was. I put a new switch on it and it works fine now. The wires and everything were there and just no switch.
Thanks.
Thanks.
