Wrong question in a f150 forum. Sorry my search for a good F150 (2002-2003) continues.

In one of those last few picks it looked like a lot of oil on the driver side chassis components. Probly a good thing you passed.

Yeah, I can't remember which side that was could of been oil and a lot of it, but it also had the power steering fluid leaking from the hose. It just didn't feel right. I know I can't ask for perfect but gotta listen to my gut.

Here's a quick question, would you rather buy a used F150 from a dealer or privately ?

Lol you may want to be a tad more specific on the super duty question then you might get an answer like year or motor and I hate the smell of smoke in my vehicles too there's a no smoking rule in both of them
It's a good thing you passed when stuff didn't seem right I didn't do that with my last truck and it was junk

really doesn't matter that much IMO. both can either be deceptive and try to hide stuff or be very open and straightforward with you. really the biggest difference is a dealer does the paperwork for you. my advice is no matter who's selling it, if you want a truck immediately reliable, if they won't let it be inspected by you or someone trustworthy, let it be. make sure you know what you're at and go over the truck. official service reports are a bonus(although some do their own work better than professionals). if you know enough to steer clear of that truck, you should be able to judge a good one when she comes along. and as you did with that truck, go with your gut. you'll know the right truck when she comes along. BTW, a post-facelift 10th gen is an excellent choice.

Hi guys!

So I'm back looking for F150... I'm looking at this guys F150 down the road; small local dealer. It's a 2004 F150 Heritage with 90 miles on it, barely any rust body wise but a 4.6L V8... I was hoping it would have a 5.4L to tow...

What are your thoughts? I've got a trailer that's 3200lbs max weight, 2600lbs empty that I'm hoping to tow in the summer.

I would keep looking for a 5.4 but if you dont tow all that often you should be ok

Ok, so back to search what range of mileage should I be looking for a used F150 to have in 2003 and 2006 years. Any suggestions? I don't want to get into something that's going out the doors. I know maintenance and stuff matters most, even a low mileage not being taken care of very good will be ruined.

The 2v variants seem to have fewer catastrophic failures but my dads 3v is at 270k and going strong.
