This has gotten way off track.....and im not gonna change that.
There are to many things that can affect mpg.
I've kept records for everything my truck has ever had done to it...right up to the amount of fuel she has drank, if I get under 15 mpg I suspect a problem, so then I look at things like air filter or dirty maf sensor a crap coil and so on.
I can't help it if your trucks have lifts or mods that kill your economy, just like I can't help it if you need new coils and have a slight miss but don't know it.....If you get under 15 mpg adjust your driving habits and if that's not the issue then you did it to yourself with crap mods or poor maintenance, maybe bolth
Just over 450k of experience with my 2 fords talking

Every time someone says they get really good MPG I ask them what size they think their tank is. That is often where the data is skewed because they don't know what size their gas tank is.

A 2003 Ford F-150 Lariat 5.4L V8 SuperCrew Cab brand new was advertised to get 14 city / 19 highway MPG.

I would figure it to be the 24-25 gal size... I only know what I put in it when I fill it up. I don't usually let it drop below 1/3 a tank. And the size of the tank really shouldn't have anything to do with mpg, unless someone is figuring they get (X) miles per tank at (Y) gallon tank........that's just a crap way of figuring it out and is not gonna be accurate
My truck says I get around 18 average.....don't know what distance that's over cuse I don't reset it ever
My torque program runs off a adapter to the obd2 plug and it says a little under 18, and my pen and paper method is about the same.
I don't average over 20mpg... that would be very difficult, but still possible ..... I can easily obtain 20mpg for a few tanks if I am trying to get the most outta my fuel, the box is empty, and I stay outta town. In the end they are still trucks no matter how nice they may be,
Mpg was a secondary consideration when we decided to by trucks
Cheers

Driving 170 miles round trip to go hunting down in noble county Ohio I averaged 15-16 mpg. That's 35s, and a 87 octane superchips tune, napa synthetic oil(like it really matters)

Why don't you just buy a beater for a grand or 2 that's I did because I put about 14000 miles on my truck in about 4 months and now I just drive my car to work which its paying for its self in all the gas money I'm saving it saves your truck because you won't drive it nearly as much I drive mine about 2 times to class a week then on the weekends too my insurance only went up like another 10-20 buck because I took liabity on the car and claimed it as my daily while my truck is claimed a pleasure veichle
