Lol ya it's a heavy sucker. I had our bit guy weld and gusset it up for me. My welding skills are alright but the last thing I want is to call my insurance about is that thing falling off on the freeway, or god forbid hurting somebody.

Btw I lol'd at your avatar haha

A few years back I had a girl in a BMW SUV rear end me at a red light in my 97 with a hitch. She hit me so hard it pushed me 20' forward. I had a hitch on the truck and the force of the impact buckled the frame where the hitch bolts to the frame effectively totalling the truck. If I would have left the ball out of the receiver that day, the damage would still have been severe, but it may have not been totalled. Food for thought.

Odds of getting rear ended: Less than 1%

Odds of forgetting about it while backing up and hitting something: Greater than 1%

Odds of looking like a doofus with a tumor sticking out of the hitch: 100%

Yeah I drill a lot of things also, but if I drove around with a big adult toy bolted to the rear bumper of my truck, I think i would get into trouble here on the base

edited to fit the situation

Just got off the phone with the insurance company and explained what I had on the receiver hitch. They said it's not a problem and I would be covered.

Tackle, would you believe I was rear ended again about a month later. I mean, I do ride a Harley and all, but that's a 1%er I'd rather not find myself in again. LOL
