Well guys was pulling my utility trailer taking some shingles off to the dump and on the way out the trailer came off the ball now my tailgate is ruined

Bummer. Guessing it wasn't locked down or the latch came off. Where were your chains?!?! most wouldn't allow the trailer to go higher than the bumper.

It was latched but didn't have a lock on the latch like I usually do and chains were hooked up but the chains are pretty long on this trailer

Ouch! On the plus side, it's not a crew cab or flareside, so a tailgate will be easier to find. You could even go with the 2010 Super Duty tailgate like [MENTION=35410]rus[/MENTION] did.

Oh I'd love to get one of those super duty tailgates! But I'm going to try my best to get one today because prom is tomorrow

Ouch that sucks, hopefully you will find a new one today. Does your prom date not like trucks with character?

They lift right off if not locked down.
Just don't even think about taking one without permission tho.
It could be a life changing experience

I would love to do this but even without a step these gates run 350-500 bucks. At least where I'm at.
