Question Tachometer problem. Help please!

Hey guys I just went and started my pickup this morning and the tachometer did not start reading for a few minutes . Do you guys have any suggestions? It is a 1998 4.6l 4x4.

You probably have a stepper motor going bad. You can find them on eBay for under 10 bucks, but they are a little tricky to install. You have to be good with a soldering iron. The 97-8 F150/F250LD clusters are all by themselves, but the 1999 SD cluster can be used up until they went to the digital cluster in 05. It might be earlier, but I believe it was 05 that they went to digital. As long as it has the analog odometer, it will fit between the two series. This should make it easier in helping you find another, if you decide to go that way.
