Would I get most of my money back?

I've also decided that I'm going to go with the box mentioned above and get 2 Sundown SD-2 10's. They'll run me about $400, but if you know car audio, you know sundown is one of the most sought after brands out there. I'll continue to use my budget Hifonics amp for now, and the subs should see about 600rms each.

I've always had ported boxes, and I've never had a prefab, so I guess we'll see how this goes. In just excited to get the dinosaur box out of my center console location although it may be difficult because I put it together inside the truck :/
One thing youll have to keep in mind is the available space under the back seat. There is a kit that will raise it but it seemed expensive for what it was. Youre not likely to fit real impressive subs under there unless you do raise the seat. I was really hoping i could find a way to downsize to a single 10 that could handle my amp (800w RMSx1 Audiobahn) but I couldnt find another way to configure it. FWIW it broke the slider latch off the back window.

Do you guys have any recommendations then? I have a Hifonics amp I think it's the 1700.1 (not this new junk, the old ones that actually do rated). I saw sundown and I know they are big in the high quality car audio industry. I've also looked at some American bass shallow mounts. I want to stay high end and don't mind spending a coin if it'll still be loud. I'm not into all that sound quality BS, because when someone rides in your truck, not many people will even know the difference.

JLs have always been top notch. IIRC Infinity has some real efficient subs too. I went with my Audiobahns bc they were real efficient. IIRC theyre around 90-91db.

These boxes are supposed to be nice. http://www.supercrewsound.com/00F150ECdual.html

Like the post above said, the more efficient the speaker, the less power youll need. 83 does seem really low for a high end sub. I would try to find an amp asap too. Hifonics is considered to be low end. Not a good match with JLs lol.

JL's aren't high end until you get into their w7's. Anything lower than that and it's just overpriced. I guess it's not that it's not high end, its just overpriced for what you get. I don't mind my amp being "low end" since it puts out rated power.

I've been running Sundown for years. They are extremely power hungry. I'm running 1500w Rms and the Zone series begs for more. My next setup will be with thein new Z-series 8'so The dB rating has been improved by lowering the moving mass of the cone and coil it self. Really depends on what your looking for SPL or SQL. I'm a all around guy. I like my lows to hit hard but stay crystal clear. I listen to a variety of music.

The Sundown page- http://www.sundownaudio.com/index.ph...rs/sd-3-series listed the SD3 10" at a 4.75" mounting depth so it would work in the box I linked earlier. I wouldnt go the JL either, but you asked so I mentioned em. I was really interested in the Massive Audio subs too. http://massiveaudio.com/collections/subwoofers

Just make sure you match the subs resistance to the amps.

PS- Dont forget pics too.

I may have had a bit of experience with Audiobahn subs (and amps, and components)...

For the OP, these Infinity's are accurate, very efficient at 91db and cheaper than what your looking at. Depth of 5 7/8" will fit under seat (My MTX's are 6" deep and are as deep as you can fit while still having 1.5" of breathing room in a downfiring configuration):

Did you buy that box? If so, could you give me the max mounting depth of the box?

you can save 3/8"+ off the infinitys mounting depths by removing the rubber magnet cover. They are just a slip on cover to hide the double stacked magnets.

You'll get more out of a 10" sub because it has air volume to compress vs the larger sub with virtually nothing.

I put two MTX 6000's in a 1.4 cubic foot enclosure with 900 watts feeding them and it absolutely slams. Very happy with it and it takes up zero usable space.

Did you have to take out the jack and lug nut wrench out? My truck has the jack and tire iron located under the rear passenger side seat. And, did you install it yourself or did you have it installed? Thanks.
