stereo faceplate visibility
Hello, I currently have a single din stereo in the vehicle. With daylight, I can't see the display due to glare and reflections while driving down the road. It's frustrating. I was thinking of going to a double din unit IF they are easier to see in broad daylight. Any thoughts, thank you.

Are you sure you don't have the illumination wire hooked up wrong? This wire usually dims the display when the headlights are on, but if you have constant power going to it, the display will be dimmed at all times. The wire is generally orange.

interesting, my aftermarket seems difficult to see in the sun but I can see a difference when I use the dimmer on the controls. I assume it's just making it even darker than normal? I'm pretty sure I hooked my stereo up the same way the factory came out. Do you happen to know which wire it needs to be plugged into?

I checked the owners manual of the stereo, there is no orange wire listed. The unit itself has a "dimmer on/off" option.
I checked the illumination brightness. It shows the green color is on bright all the way up -- the green seems to be the easiest to see so I've been using that color.
Is it maybe just the brand -- Pioneer?. Or would a double din be easier to see? If a double din has the same problems, then it won't do me any good to waste the time and money.
Or any other suggestion? Thanks for any help.

Would tinting the windows help some? Is that that glare your referring to?

At times, you can see the display with no problem. But with glare, it makes the faceplate look completely black -- nothing is visible. The model is DEH-6400BT. I could be wrong, I don't think it's an installation or settings problem as other people seem to have the same problem. I was hoping maybe the double din units might eliminate the problem.
