Step Bars from 01 to 98 Will They Fit?
Will Step bars from a 2001 Ext Cab line right up on a 98 f-150 Ext Cab? I would think so, but I wanted to make sure...

Are you trying to buy some or are you switching over from another truck?
I looked checked Nfab and Ranch Hand since those are the known lines I've seen people go for. The year range for F150 extended cab says 97-03. So it seems like that will fit.
NFab
Ranch Hand
Happy to help. I hope it works out when you switch it.

Yeah they should fit, the only thing you have to watch out for is front end pieces because they changed the front end in '99. I'm sure there are other things that are year specific, but for the most part the front ends are 97 / 98, and 99-03. You should be fine with the step bars.

Thank you both for your reply, they would be take offs from a 2001 Extended cab, not sure if OEM or not. I haven't seen in person yet. And I wish sometimes the front clips weren't different because he had a great deal on a Ranchhand grille guard.

If It's just a grill guard it should fit. They changed the grill and bumper in '99. The frame mounting locations for the grill guard should still be the same. On mine the brackets go where the tow hooks are. You could ask him to take measurements for you if you are un sure.
EDIT:
I just thought of this, it may not fit, my bumper was too tall for the 99+ guards, I just drilled another hole in the frame to attach it so I moved it forward enough to clear the bumper. If you are alright with yours looking like mine I'd go for it. You may not have the same issue as me, I don't know.

Thanks! yeah it's not the holes in frame that are different its the dagum bumper. But hey, I do like the 97/98 front bumper better! Thanks for your input!
