My 01' Lariat SuperCrew has the turn signal on the outter cap like Fordfan2006 has it on his truck. OhioLariat yours definitely looks aftermarket, considering they have the logo of I'm guessing a company at the top of the mirror that says "Signal"

Nope, the "in-the-mirror LED" type like mine were factory on early Gen 10 Lariats, and "Signal" made the glass. I'm not sure exactly when Ford switched to the "pod-style" marker, but believe it was sometime in '99 (or maybe '00?). These mirrors came with the '99 when it was purchased (I was/am the second owner).

Thanks! I was lucky to find one in DSG. It's one of my favorite colors for these trucks, right up there with the white-over-DSG FX4.

Plasti-dip makes an Anthracite in their "True Metallic" series that might be a good match, but I don't really want to spend $10 plus shipping to find out. I keep hoping that one of the shops here will get it in. Which reminds me... I need to give them a call again!

And yes, that color (if it matches) on FX4 wheels would look fantastic.

I tried something a bit more aggressive, and it appears that the discoloration is mainly in the clear coat, so it looks like I'll be able to do better than I originally thought:

You can still see where they were, though, and I'm a little hesitant to start going after them with 2000-grit. We'll see.

On a side note, I looked this afternoon, and I *can* see where the stripes were on the white '99 if I look at just the right angle. It's just that white hides a multitude of things, including, it seems, stripe lines.

Next up....

To replace the Sens-A-Craps that are on it now.

Andy

EDIT: Actually, the Sensa-Tracs aren't that bad on the road, as they soak up the bumps pretty well. I don't care for how they seem to "float" on the gravel roads and make the truck wallow a bit, though, when the going gets a bit rougher.

Oh, and I forgot about the installation of a Directed Electronics 535T power window module.
One-touch up and down on both sides now.

No pics of the install, though, because.... well.... it was just a bunch of wire splicing and the module screwed to the door panel.

Fog light mod and backlight replacement on the headlight switch last night. I wanted to use (and tried) an LED for the backlight, but couldn't get it to light the indicators evenly, so I went with a standard bulb. Hope it lasts.

Replaced a burnt-out bulb in the HVAC panel as well, and the one in the 4x4 switch. Those are easy, although the 4x4 light bulb is nearly impossible to find anymore. (Good thing I had a couple of spares.)

Starting on the shocks tonight.

Thanks for your interest. I'm hoping to sell it outright, but will post in the classifieds if I decide differently.

I took a short hiatus from truck mods while having some body work done on the truck (long, dealer-related story) and getting my Mustang ready for a car show, but was busy again yesterday, trying my hand with Plasti-dip on the bumpers. Other than a couple of small tear-aways from masking miscues, it turned out pretty well.

I also painted up the hitch while the bumper is off. I swear the factory only uses just enough paint to make them black. Even here in CO they rust.
