I have purchased a few other Spectre parts and have been impressed with them....good quality and reasonable prices.

Are you looking at this one? http://www.jegs.com/i/Spectre/865/9920/10002/-1

Looks to be a good value, but I would like to see more shielding from the engine bay's hot air.

I was looking at one online that said would fit my truck and it had more of a shroud than the one that you show.. Funny now I can't find it. but you've had good experience with them? did you get any more HP or MPGs?

I installed a Spectre Cold Air Intake kit about a month ago. It gives the 5.4L a nice deep tone when accellerating. I also have a Flowmaster Cat back system for with both the intake and the exaust it sounds really nice. I don't drive my truck a whole lot so I haven't bothered keeping track of the mpg. I don't think it has changed much. Feels like it has more HP off the line but who really knows...

Looked at the same one today and couldn't get over the price difference. Any more thoughts out there on this product?

I'm thinking for half the price, it's worth it. IMO.

Spectre has been around for as long as the big names, the only thing about that kit that i didn't like was that metal tube and the lack of heat shield around it and the filter... I wound up doing the Gotts mod instead.

For a budget CAI, it's not bad. But it's def not on the same quality level as a K@N, or other well known brands like JLT, C@L, Air Raid....

Only advice i would give on CAI's it not to get the oiled ones. After A while they seem to affect your mass air flow sensors, if there is an option go with the dry ones.

I'm not sure if it'll fit. I do know you'll be dangerously lean w/a 3V. Have to stick with the factory tube size, - IF your running the factory tune.

However, if you want to bump it up to say 3.5, you can with a tune. I'm not sure about twin pipes. I know it's not needed NA or super charged. All I'm trying to say, you can puke a motor on the 3V if you don't dial it in to run a larger intake....that's all. In case your unaware.

BTW- Old thread, I see user @ONELOWF was here. Didn't know he was a member. I'm still running one of his intakes and Paxton prop. Good guy!
