Spark Plugs Change = Better Response?

Spark Plugs Change = Better Response?
I have a question not just limited to my truck (2000 f150 v6 4.2l) but cars in general.
Today I replaced my spark plugs since I pulled one off and noticed it wasn't in the greatest condition. I wasn't having any misfires or anything, but as soon as I drove with the new ones I felt an increase in performance and the throttle response was noticeably better.
Could someone please tell me how new spark plugs (they were the exact same brand) will have this effect even though the last ones weren't having misfires and I assumed they still worked?
If you're curious on what plugs I used they are the NGK G-Power Platinum Spark Plugs TR55-1GP's. (Same ones as the one that was on the truck)
thanks

Did you use the Motorcraft Finewires?

I was planning to but I went to my local ford dealership and they wanted $15.00 per plug since they had to order them from the USA. Online was going to cost me $30-$80 for shipping/import fees alone just to bring them into Canada so I decided to go with the NGK G-Power Platinum Spark Plugs TR55-1GP's (which I had on my truck previously).

15 dollars? Ouch.
They sell the Motorcrafts at Autozone.
