Spark Plugs
#5
I brought my '02 SCREW 4.6 used and it had around 65K on it. Up to almost 130K now and I'm begining to experience probs. related to plug/coil failures. I think the easiest way to deal with it is to remove all the e.g.r. stuff in the way, pull the fuel rail and then it's fairly straight forward. Just remember to take your time and not force anything, as it would suck to break a plug and have to buy new heads. I sprayed mine with WD-40 after I got the coils out and let it soak overnight. Don't forget anti-seize on the new plugs and dielectric grease inside the boots of the coils...
Good luck!

If I were you, I wouldn't use anything except Motorcraft. Its pricey, I think I paid close to $200 for the plugs and wires ($190ish). The guy that dyno's my car once told me not to use anything except OEM Motorcraft on ignition related parts on my truck, and since he knows his stuff, I will listen. Also, a lot of the guys on here seem to swear by it too.
I believe Ford recommends a tune up at 100k miles on our trucks. Mine is at 102k, so I need to get them done. Darn plugs and wires are still sitting on my work bench, because I cringe when I think about the afternoon its going to take to put them in. I think for the most part it won't be too terrible, but I believe its the cyl 4 plug that is a bear to get to.
Like mentioned earlier, at least a 12 pack, and you should be good. I'd also recommend going to church that Sunday, as you'll probably swear more than a drunken sailor!

Just picked them up at my local Ford dealership. They had everything I needed there. I believe they said it would be in the $450-$500 range for them to do it there, so thats why I just bought the parts and am doing it myself! Good luck bud.

just changed the plugs on my 06 f150 XLT 2 wheel drive 4.6 motor. Went to autozone bought what i thought were really good plugs ( autolite platinum ) 2.5 hrs later started it up and ran like crap. Back to the store bought new boots. Installed all new boots as 2 of the old ones had cracks in them. 2 hrs later Started it up ran like crap. WTF got on this sight to see related problems. Thank you Ford F150 forum. Back to autozone to get ford motorcraft plugs. Installed the plugs 2hrs later started up ran like a charm, Lessoned learned stay with OEM parts
