Default Slow Moving Wipers

I went to hit the wipers on my truck, and they seem to be moving awfully slow. There is still a high/low, but the high seems to be moving around the same pace as what the low usually would. Motor? GEM?

Access the motor connector and jumper it for a test.

And what exactly will this tell me? Are you saying if I go about it this way, and the wipers go at full speed, my problem is elsewhere?

Do this; Go to the Autozone website. http://www.autozone.com/autozone/rep...nfoLanding.jsp

enter in your Trucks year, model, and so on. They have the diagnostic and repair guides that cover your truck. I just checked they cover the diagnostics for the wiper system, as well as the repair and replacement of parts. It is free.

...could be wrong but i'm pretty sure that if you jumper just the motor it will go at full speed regardless because you're bypassing the speed selector of the blades. So if you wipers go flyin the switch is most likely bad if they are still slow it's most likely a bad motor my friend. Just my guess that's what i would do....of course check all your fuses and relays before doing anything

Just trying to seperate the motor from other electrical issues. Going direct with jumper wires and it works at a high speed then issue is elsewhere, if it still won't come up to speed then its the motor. Guys this is troubleshooting 101.

This sounds like a motor problem to me... it wouldnt be the speed selector because it wil stil change speeds... the fact that it is slowing down to me would point towards the motor. If it was all going one speed regardless of the speed selector position then i would check the grounds. but if that's not the case then i would point at the motor being your culprit

Hey guys thanks for all of your responses -- but I got it taken care of.

I hopped in my truck to (luckily) drive to the parts store to grab a few parts for my Mustang. Well I had the radio on, etc., and tried to roll down my windows (which also seemed to be slow to me the day before). I got the window about 3 inches down and it stopped...the radio also shut off when I hit the switch. Then, all of my gauges dropped down to zero, and the truck was losing power fast. I knew right then and there that my alternator was toast. Didn't even have the old one checked at the parts store...got one, jumped my truck and limped it home.

About an hour later, alternator was in, and everything works at the speed it should. Problem solved.
