Need to find out how to get at the front seat belt retract mechanisnm in a '02 f150 with captain chairs? Have a big time slack/no retract drivers belt and was going to try and clean and lube it first.. Anybody else delt with this? Can the spring be adjusted? Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks...Mike

The seat belts are not adjustable. Once they become inoperative get new ones. This is from the shop manual:

2001 F-150 Workshop Manual NOTE: All inoperative safety belt buckle pretensioners and safety belt retractor pretensioners have been placed on the Mandatory Return List. All damaged safety belt buckle pretensioners and safety belt retractor pretensioners must be treated the same as any inoperative live safety belt buckle pretensioner or safety belt retractor pretensioner being returned.

Anyone got a quote from the dealer for how much it would cost to fix this? Both of my front seat belts suffer from this badly and I'd really like to get them fixed. It's only so long until I close my door on the buckle and do some damage.

pull. Most all plastic trim just pulls off. After that its a simple 1-2 bolts to remove the belt system, just pick a used one up from a junkyard imo.
