Why and how can you call them junk? Do some research on how many had issues? Then see how many of those were putting more Hp then needed to tear them up. I have owned 2 of those trans. First one was in a 2004.5 Crew cab 4x4. Owned it 10 years, not one issue with the trans or the rest of the truck. But it was still factory when I sold it. It was no mall Queen, I hauled around 4000+ lb Truck camper and towed a 20 ft boat. Around 75,000 miles doing that. Pulled a small Trackhoe with it all those years also. Last 2 years it was pulling a 41ft 16,000 lb Heartland Landmark Key Largo.

That transmission held up to that with ease. Plus with the trans brake come off a 6% grade for miles without hitting the brakes But its unreal when someone upgrades there engine to 500 HP and doing stupid stuff with it. Then blame the Trans for there STUPID use of one of the best Trans out there.
I now have the same trans with the 6 gear kit added in my 2005 Kodiak C5500. It has a 5.9 Cummins 24 valve putting out 350 Hp and 800 lbs of Torque. Grossing 30,000 + lbs still going strong.

Anything can break, but most times if used within what its built to handle. It will last and hold up. Ford trans are the same normal use and not beat on do well. Then dodge trans for a long time was a crap shoot for lots of people. While others never had any issues. Amish here have issues with there horse and Buggy's. When the kids hot rod them. Or let the horse runaway.

My wifes grandpa had 4 brand new Duramax in the last 10 years and 8 transmissions. One of them was replaced 16 miles out of the dealership, lol.

Lord only knows why he kept getting them. My FIL has had 3 new F350's and one new F250 in 7 years and never had warranty work done.
