I tried Bilsteins and liked them for about two years then they went weak on me. I thought they performed preyty much like stock but didn't last as long. I've had good results in the past with Monroe Gas Magnums and Rancho RS5000s. I'm running Rancho RS9000s (adjustable) now and they're firm enough when I need it but they are not comfortable. If I were shopping for a replacement today I'd try the Gas Magnums.

Oh, and if the backs are shot so are the fronts.

I had a set of the RS9000's too and I didn't like them either for the same reason.

I think the Bilsteins are more of an off-road shock. I know that they're popular to the Baja trucks.

I'd go to my nearest auto parts store and buy the best they stock. There are premium brands, and that's good if your that kind of guy. I like Kragen, but there are many good part houses. Find one close and get to know the guys (or gals). But I don't put mag wheels on a pickup either, so go figure.
