Shocks???

Shocks???
My front shocks are pretty much shot. They are the stock ones from the factory. Looking to replace them. I have very little knowledge on shocks other than what the different companies say. I have a pretty stock 2002 F-150 4x4 Super Crew with BF Goodridge AT 285/70/17 tires and I leveled the front by tightening the torsion bars. Also if anyone knows of any good deals online let me know.
Also I tow a boat a lot, 2005 Mastercraft xstar. Around 5500 lbs with trailer, do I need more heavy duty shocks in the back?
Thanks

Honestly.. You don't need heavy duty shocks in the back. But in the smart part. I would put some on there. And for the front. I would do the same. Then lower your torsion bars. The heavy duty shocks should make up the diffrence. I mean you only gain about 1-2 inches with the torsion bars. But yea. Throw some heavy duty shocks all the way around. And you should be find. If you plan on towing alot. I'll do some research for you. And see what I can find on some shock prices for you.

I agree on lowering the torsion bars and installing heavy duty shocks on the back. There is no reason to go above stock shocks on the front. Shocks will not affect ride height as they provide no support just dampning.

I don't recommend air shocks. They put unecessary stress on the shock mouts that aren't designed to support weight. If you need extra load capacity use air bags or add a leaf springs.

Thanks everyone. Talked to a few friends and ended up getting four new shocks from Oreilly's, the highest quality Monroe shock that they carried for trucks. I looked at a lot of very nice shocks online and I decided that I would be paying for features that I wouldn't ever take advantage of. The back shocks on my truck seemed alright when I took them off, I went a head and changed them anyway. The front ones were mush.
Also, what is wrong with raising the torsion bars? It makes the ride slightly rougher. If I lower them again, how else can I make my ride sit even? I hate a lower front.
Thanks for the help

You are correct. I would install a liftkit if you want the truck up some. Just my .02
