Rust Proofing Frame?
I have a 98' F-150 I live in Vermont and my frame isn't in bad light flaking, and some rust but overall quite solid. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions or ideas to keep it good and solid, I need the truck to last me three more years until I graduate college. Also there is some surface rust on the bottom of the doors on the outside and inside that I would like to take care of, and under the fender flares has surface rust. Suggestions?
Thanks in advance,
Tyler

You can sand it down and do the bottom lower part of the rockers with black bed liner like you get at autozone. Herculiner is one brand. As far as the frame you can sand it and spray that rubberized under coating spray that they sell at autozone as well(or any car/truck parts store).

If you want a cheap fix , do what my buddy did. clean the frame with a wire wheel & then spray used motor oil or tranny fluid & take it up the dustiest road you can find...It will make it virtually weather proof & just redo it every summer b4 winter sets in...I live in Snow filled Pa where they salt & calcium the roads quite a few times a day...Good luck , & hope this helped !

I'm wondering how well that rubberized undercoating works?
Last year I cleaned up my frame with a wire wheel and sander then put some satin black paint on it. it held up pretty nice through a year in colorado, but there are a few places that are flaking. So I was thinking about going over it with the rubberized stuff...?
