Default Rough Starts When Engine Cold

When i let my truck sit long enough, overnight lets say, when i start it in the morning it tends to hesitate when it starts. It acts like only a few cylinders are firing then everything acts normal. Well also when its cold and you put it in gear and just keep it idle or a little faster(up to 1200 RPM lets say) it tends to run rough, like shake the truck rough. But when you let the engine get to operating temperature, turn it off, then re-start it acts just fine. Truck is '97 4.6 auto with 162000 miles. Any ideas what may be the problem, i know something may be going bad due to mileage. Thanks.

I would do a BG induction service on it and basic maintenance. When were the plugs changed last? Check for water in the spark plug holes. It might be evaporating out after a minute or 2 of running.

Plugs are new about 1000 miles ago, along with wires. Yes it does smoke white smoke out the exhuast for about the first 30 seconds, always figured it was the condensation in the exhaust burning out. What is this Induction you are talking about?

My 02 would do the same sometimes but with gray/black smoke. It would clear up if I steeped on the throttle for a second or two. I believe mine was from the valve seats, it only did it if the truck set for 4 or 5 days or more without being started. It doesn't sound like yours is the same problem as mine was though.

I see it shows part numbers on that site, but no price. And what would you recomend NGM that i should get off that site. I know getting all of it shouldnt hurt since my truck has seen 160k+ miles, and hasnt been easy either. Well thanks for the suggestions.
