Default Replace ball joints or entire control arm assembies?

Just bought a 2000 F150 2wd. Ball joints best days are behind them. Should i just swap the entire control arm assemblies? Seems like not a whole lot more to just get the 4 assemblies. I'm definitely gonna replace bushings if i replace ball joints....

if the control arms are like my 4wd, the uppers are machine pressed in so you just replace the entire control arm, the bottoms you can press the ball joint out and replace. I recommend moog problem solver replacements, moog stuff has lifetime warranties and the parts are only a few $$ more expensive, not to mention there the best available. The upper unit comes with bushings attached.

If you're going to replace the bushings do the whole arm. Uppers you replace everything in one shot for sure.

the lower arms? They're dang pricy! I just did one, 260 something? I think.... Ford used some POS pot metal control arms..... The moog replacement felt and looked twice as strong. Very dissatisfied with the oe arm, but then again today has just not been my day el oh el.

I wouldn't mess with the LCA unless the bushings are gone, broken or squeaking. It's not real common on this truck but if you're going to pull the arm anyway for the bushing's, spend the extra money. It's one of those "OK I'm going this far, might as well go a little more" scenarios.

It'd be like doing a fuel pump and not the filter or a timing belt on a car and not the water pump...etc. Idk.

Well, i still have to do a dry steering test for a final analysis, but uppers are getting ghosted. Looks like Moog for the win.

Thanks for all the input gentlemen.

Lower control arms are very expensive, the lower bushings are probably fine if your not abusive. Unless you need them, don't replace the lower arms.

Ball joints are cheap. Replace the lower BJ and the upper control arm. While your at it, take a good look at shocks tie rods and sway links.
